As we drove to Pringle bay to meet Gus and Yolan, the rain followed. With heavy hearts we drove up to 3flavours guesthouse, where they were spending their last weekend together before Gus had to leave behind his beloved wife and kids in Johanessburg for a new career in Cape Town. The two had decided that, given such a huge upheaval in their life that now would be as good a time as any to renew their vows and re-affirm their love for one another.
It seemed though, that the rain might have other plans for their intimate celebrations in the velt, but, as we drove to the entrance the sun appeared through the storm clouds, and gave us the most beautifully dramatic skies!
I asked Yolan to give me a littl background on their relationship- here is her beautiful passage;
The love story started 16 years ago when two friends realised they wanted to be more than friends. Two years later they got married, and their love for each other only grew stronger. They shared many happy memories, but also very sad moments like when their first born baby died of a rare heart defect. As the trials crossed their path, they only grew closer to each other and even more so to God. To celebrate a new chapter in their lives, and a new beginning in Cape Town, they decided to symbolise that new start and to reaffirm their love, to renew their wedding vows to each other and before God. One piece of advice, always keep God as captain in your marriage boat, then you are sure to survive any storm…
